Niclas Gillis is an award winning filmmaker and visual artist, called “the premiere talent to watch”, by Nike. Most known for his unflinching narrative short film, Hold Me Down, hailed “a powerful, powerful drama” by CNN, Gillis was commissioned by Nike to create a video art piece for the 20th anniversary of the Nike Lab. The piece, titled “I, David”, was exhibited in a special SoHo gallery for 10 days in May, 2017. In his series titled “Works After Muybridge”, Gillis examines the Stanford scientist’s 19th century studies of motion in a fine arts context as meditations on time and subjectivity.
Collectors include former congressman, Michael Huffington; creative director at Buck Mason, Kyle Fitzgibbons; and the president of Ms Min, Ian Hylton.
